Disaster Situation
A heavy and unexpected snowstorm struck the high mountainous area of Dolpa District in Nepal on May 27th. Thousands of villagers who had gone up high hills to collect a high value herb called "Yarshagumba" are trapped in the resulting snow and their condition is not know yet. At least 16 people are confirmed dead. Search and Rescue operation using helicopters and local people from overground is underway.
