Disaster Situation
The meetings came as the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology's Water Resource and Environment Administration predicted the water level of the Mekong River at Vientiane would today exceed the danger line. The water level in Vientiane on Agust 11, measured 12.22m, exceeding the warning mark of 11.50m and continuing to rise towards the danger line of 12.50m. Water levels in the Mekong at Vientiane today (August 12) are expected to exceed the danger line, with a forecast height of 13.02m, rising to 13.38m tomorrow. Although the level measured yesterday in Vientiane was slightly below the danger line, water had already flowed into some low-lying areas including Kaoliew village in Sikhottabong district, Danekham village and Nongda village in Chanthabury district of the urban area of Vientiane Capital City.
