Disaster Situation

Geohazards in the Eastern Mindanao and Visayas as well as Bicol areas were mainly due to the tail-end of cold front which prevailed form January 2-17, 2009. Cold front triggered the occurrences of continuous and heavy rains which eventually caused landslides, floods and flashfloods in the area. Misamis Oriental, Agusan Del Sur, Agusan Del Norte and Catanduanes provinces are under state of calamity due to geohazard occurences. (SOURCE: National Disaster Coordinating Council).
