Disaster Situation

Heavy rain has hit Indonesia's capital since Sunday night. Several areas of the city have been inundated with 20-40 centimetres (cm) high waters, slowing down traffic and worsening traffic jams. In some areas in West Jakarta, floods have reached 60 cm deep. Jakarta's Disaster Mitigation Agency recorded 49 flood prone spots in the city. Twenty-two of those are in Central Jakarta where the main business district, Istana Negara and City Hall are located.
