The circulation after Typhoon Matmo caused moderate to very heavy rain in the Northern region (Bắc Bộ) and a part of the North Central Coast (Bắc Trung Bộ), specifically Thanh Hóa. The prolonged heavy rain during the night of October 6–7, 2025, resulted in widespread flooding in many urban areas (especially Hanoi), deep inundation in some towns, along with the risk of river floods, flash floods, and landslides in mountainous areas.
The most severe flooding occurred in Thái Nguyên province, where the Cầu River water level surpassed its historical high, causing many streets in Thái Nguyên City to be completely submerged. In many areas, water depths reached 2 meters or more. The central area of Thái Nguyên province remained a "sea of water" on the morning of October 8, even though the rain wasn't heavy at that time. According to reports, as of this moment, 3 people have died and 3 are missing in Thái Nguyên, with many others injured.
