2026-10-01 Flood and Landslide in Dawei District, Myanmar on 01 October, 2026

Disaster Situation

Heavy rainfall between 27–29 September 2026 triggered flash floods and landslides in Dawei and Launglon Townships, Tanintharyi Region, Myanmar.
Widespread landslides have cut off roads and disrupted communication networks. Many village buildings in more than 20 villages have been damaged, and more than 41 casualties have been reported so far on October 2, 2026. Rescue operations have been severely hindered due to limited accessibility and the lack of heavy machinery needed to clear mud and debris.
A damage assessment using Earth Observation data is urgently required.
